Auto Detailing in Huntington, New York

1 min read

Detailing at an auto body shop leans toward the paint. We spend most of these hours on correction and finish work, often on vehicles that just left our own booth.

Paint correction

Swirls and fine scratches are defects in the clear coat that scatter light rather than reflect it. Correction is machine polishing a measured amount of that clear away until the surface reads flat again.

Clear is finite, so film thickness gets checked before anything starts and the work stops well short of the point where a panel would need refinishing. On a car that has been through automated washes for years, the change is dramatic and costs nothing beyond labor.

Salt air is the local problem

Huntington sits close enough to the water that salt in the air is a constant, not a winter event. It settles on paint, sits in trim seams, and works at anything already compromised. A corrected and protected finish sheds it far better, and rinsing a vehicle before that residue sits for weeks is worth more than any product applied afterward.

Headlight restoration

Clouded lenses cut real light output at night and make the front of an otherwise sound car look tired. We sand and refinish them properly instead of wiping on a restorer that hazes over again by the next season.

Interior work

Extraction on carpet and upholstery, leather cleaned and conditioned, vents and seams where dust settles and stays.

After a repair, or on its own

Plenty of this work follows a collision job, and a fresh panel deserves the rest of the car brought up to meet it. One customer mentioned we washed and waxed her Jeep before handover, which is simply how a vehicle should leave. You are equally welcome to book detailing with no repair attached.
