Driver assistance systems need recalibrating after the parts they mount to are disturbed. We do that work in house at our auto body shop rather than sending your vehicle out to a third party and back.

Which systems, and when

Automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise, blind spot monitoring, and surround view all depend on sensors with a fixed reference. Replace a windshield and the forward camera moves. Repair a front bumper and the radar behind it moves. Change ride height with suspension work and everything aims differently.

Any of those alone is enough to require calibration.

Why it cannot be skipped

A sensor pointed slightly wrong does not throw a warning. It reports confidently and inaccurately, which is worse than reporting nothing. Emergency braking that engages a fraction late, or lane keeping that centers on the wrong reference, is a failure that only appears in the moment it was supposed to help.

This step gets omitted regularly by shops without the tooling, and the vehicle drives away with no visible sign of it.

Static and dynamic

Some vehicles calibrate against physical targets set at measured distances on level floor under controlled light. Others require a road procedure at a specified speed on clearly marked lanes. Many need both in a set order. We follow the manufacturer's published procedure for the vehicle rather than a generic sequence.
